Waking Up

I really should categorize all the different types of sleep: fitful, nap, cautious (like in class or on airplane), restful, nightmarish, segmented, after working out, switching time zones, drunk, vivid, and the pass out. There’s lots more but my favorite is sleep that is the deep deep hibernation, where I only intend to take a nap but I wake up the next day, or I can’t remember waking up or turning over the entire night.

The best part of that sleep is the moment I wake up from the alarm. It’s as if I’m swimming deep down in the ocean, in the dark (cause I almost never remember these dreams) and as I start to surface, things become brighter. Then I break the surface of the water in my dream and I open my eyes in real life and for a moment I’m living in both places and I’m totally confused about where I am. That may seem bad but once I get my bearings, I feel completely renewed.
